Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what information we collect and why, how data is classified and how you can delete it.

About Mergo

Mergo is a mail merge add-on for Google Sheets and Gmail that:

  • Connects to your Gmail to retrieve your drafts, and lets you choose the draft you want to reuse as the email template

  • Reads your Google Sheets (email addresses, column headers, cell content)

  • Sends emails according to the spreadsheet data as a campaign.

Some additional features can:

  • Connect to your Google Drive in order to insert attachments to your emails

  • Retrieve contacts from your Google Contacts' list

  • Provide reports on your email campaigns (emails opened, clicked, responded, bounced, unsubscribed).

This add-on is tightly integrated to your Google account and the data stored in the said account. When installing the add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace, you will be prompted to authorize different accesses to your Google account. Those authorizations will only be used to perform the service you are requesting from the add-on you have installed.

To remove the add-on access to your Google account, you must uninstall the add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace (see “User Account Deletion”).

Add-ons are created and powered by Google Apps Script, on Google servers.

Information gathered by Mergo will never be sold or shared to external people. When we need to store data outside of your Google account, we use Firebase, a serverless database developed by Google, so your data never leaves Google servers. We only store in Firebase data which is absolutely needed to provide our users the service offered by this add-on. Most data collected by our add-ons are directly processed within Google Apps Script and are not saved in any database for later reuse.

Our App's use of information received, and App's transfer of information to any other app received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API User Data Policy, including the Limited Use Requirements.

User Account Deletion

By using Mergo, we only access data that is absolutely necessary for the add-on to run correctly. If you wish to stop using our service, simply follow the steps below to uninstall Mergo from your Google account:

  2. Next to Mergo, click the menu icon

  3. From the drop down menu, click Uninstall

Uninstalling Mergo will interrupt all the add-on's functionality and activities on your Google account.

However, there is no automatic deletion of your user data in our database (Firebase). To get your data deleted, please send your request to and we will proceed to the deletion within 30 days.

Data Classification

Depending on its security impact, data is classified according to the five following categories:

  1. Confidential data has the highest level of security. Only the user has access to it. All emails from your Gmail box and files from your Google Drive are strictly confidential and Mergo never has access to confidential data.

  2. Sensitive data is needed for Mergo to perform the service you are requesting from the add-on, and is never shared out of this scope. All sensitive data such as your recipients' email addresses and your email content remain under your control, within your Google account, Google Sheets, Gmail, and Google Contacts.

  3. Shareable data can be shared to specific people within the company. For example, the Mergo Support Team may ask users to share their Google Sheets for troubleshooting purposes. We will never keep a copy of your spreadsheet data and we strongly encourage you to remove us access to your files once your request has been addressed and resolved.

  4. Public data can be shared as public records, like all the content published in this Mergo's website.

  5. Private data belongs to individuals who are responsible for the maintenance and backup.
